MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Montie Hicks of BB&T and Chris Colbert of United Bank have been named co-chairs for the West Virginia University Hospitals-East 2012 Bernie Hutzler Memorial Golf Classic.
The annual golf classic, which benefits City Hospital and Jefferson Memorial Hospital, will be held on Monday, June 4 at The Woods Resort. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the tournament which, was established in 1988 as a fund raiser and “friend” raiser for City Hospital. In 2010, the tournament was expanded to benefit both WVUH-East hospitals.
Named in memory of WVUH-East Charter Board Director Dr. James “Bernie” Hutzler, the WVUH-East golf tournament will be held this year at The Woods Resort with registration at 10 am, lunch at 11 am and shotgun start at 11:30. An awards reception will immediately follow play at The Woods Resort.
As in the past, money raised from the golf fundraiser will be used to purchase patient care equipment for both City Hospital and Jefferson Memorial Hospital. This year’s goal has been set at $50,000. To date, over $1 million in proceeds has been raised in support of the hospitals as a result of past golf tournaments.
Sponsorship and golfer information for the 2012 Bernie Hutzler Memorial Golf Classic was recently released, and committee members are now recruiting sponsors and participants. Sponsorship levels include the $5000 Presenting, $2500 Underwriting, $1000 Sponsor, $500 Patron and $200 Golfer.
Because the field is limited to the first 144 golfers, early registration is encouraged. For more information on the 2012 golf classic, contact the WVUH-East Foundations office at 304-264-1223.
The City Hospital Foundation and Jefferson Health Care Foundation, both members of West Virginia University Hospitals-East, are 501(c)(3), not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization that depends on the generosity of individuals, families and corporations in support of City Hospital and Jefferson Memorial Hospital. A portion of all golf classic sponsorships are tax deductible.
