Quality Care...

The hospital has a comprehensive women's health program including mammography, obstetrics and gynecology services. The obstetrics department offers expectant mothers many options for labor and delivery. Private labor and delivery rooms, a whirlpool tub and epidural service allow for a full range of labor and delivery choices. The department has private post-partum rooms for 24 hour rooming-in and a place for fathers to stay over night. There is a fully equipped nursery to handle an emergency or unexpected problem that a newborn might encounter. Expanded nursing staff provides quality care with a personal touch. In addition, evening childbirth preparation classes, breast-feeding classes and infant CPR classes are available.

What makes Jefferson Memorial a special place for moms and babies?

Individualized Care
– Our nurse-to-patient ratio is usually 1:3 or less. This means you get the special attention you need during this important time of your life. Our qualified staff of experienced OB nurses are here to support you during all stages of your pregnancy, labor, delivery and recovery.

Continuity of Care
All of our nurses are cross-trained for every aspect of the birthing process as well as caring for your special newborn. The same nurse will take care of you during labor, delivery and the postpartum period.

Smaller is Better –
When you’re a patient at Jefferson Memorial Hospital , you will know you’re a patient with a name, not just a room number. We are fully equipped with fetal monitors, infant warmers and 24 hour respiratory therapists to handle any emergency; and our recently renovated unit has been decorated with the new mom in mind .

Services:

  • In addition to labor, delivery, postpartum and nursery services, we are here for your Antepartum care for those experiencing problems with the pregnancy such as pre-term labor, kidney infections or other problems that your physician determines needs to be cared for in a hospital setting.
  • We are equipped for Cesarean Sections, vacuum deliveries, D&C’s, Tubal Ligations, and newborn circumcisions.
  • Our staff is trained to care for your newborn who may need IV fluids, antibiotics, apnea monitoring or phototherapy.
  • We are equipped for twin deliveries and most premature infants over 34 weeks gestation can be cared for at our hospital until they can be discharged home.
  • Our nursery is also equipped to receive any premature infant that required NICU care and is now ready to gain weight before being discharged home to mom & dad.
  • Breastfeeding support – all of the staff are trained to assist the new mother with breastfeeding. In addition, we have literature and videos to make the mom feel more comfortable with her decision. Should the need arise for breastpumping, we have that available as well.
  • Every baby receives the state required hearing test before going home using the latest ABR (Auditory Brainstem Response) technology.
  • We have notary public services available to complete Paternity Acknowledgement paperwork during your stay.
