The new 1.5 MRI high field system scanner provides superior imaging quality giving physicians better images to evaluate a patient's condition. The unit is designed to make procedures more comfortable for patients. It has a wide open short bore which gives a more open feeling which is especially comforting for patients who are claustrophobic. Other features include an intercom system which allow for communication between the patient and staff at all times; a stereo system with a CD player and the system can accommodate patients up to 350 lbs.
This MRI technology gives patients the option of receiving their care closer to home instead of needing to seek care at health care facilities out of the area. An MRI scan can be used as a diagnostic tool for identifying or evaluating many health conditions. A few of the diagnostic uses include evaluating diseases of the brain, neck abdomen and spine; identifying cardiovascular disease; and evaluating orthopedics injuries.
If you or a family member is in need of an MRI you may request that your physician schedules your appointment at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
