WVUH-East Home Health Care

WVUH-East Home Health Care is skilled care provided in your home according to written orders received by your doctor. The care is provided on an intermittent or part-time basis only. Our goal is to help you recuperate from illness or surgery in the comfort of home and to help you live independently at home for as long as possible. We strive to promote healing and independence, and speed recovery time while costing less than other types of recovery health care. Since 1996, we have been providing quality home care for Jefferson County residents and we now accept referrals for both Jefferson and Berkeley Counties.

We offer a vast array of skilled home health services to help your patients recover at home…

  • Nursing: Skilled nurses provide services that are individualized to meet the special needs of each patient. Nurses provide services such as health education, intravenous infusion therapy, wound care/dressings, catheter care, medication injections, drawing blood for laboratory tests and pain management.

  • Physical therapy: Rehabilitative techniques may include gait training, evaluation for equipment, pain control, home exercise programs, muscle strengthening or instruction in the use of prosthetic devices.

  • Speech Therapy: Specific Treatment programs to assist the patient who has a communication problem are provided. The speech therapist also offers specialized training for patients who have problems swallowing.

  • Occupational Therapy: Rehabilitative techniques are used to increase the patient's ability to carry out normal, day-to-day activities such as feeding, dressing, grooming and bathing themselves, as well as performing household tasks. Occupational therapists also construct adaptive equipment and instruct in energy conservation and work simplification techniques.

  • Medical Social Services: Social workers assist patients and families when social, emotional or financial factors interfere with treatment or health maintenance or inhibit the patient in coping with disease-induced limitations.

  • Home Health Aide: Specially trained aides provide personal care services and help patients perform everyday tasks made difficult by illness or injury. These servides are provided under the supervision of a registered nurse for those patients receiving nursing care and/or therapy.
