Giving to Jefferson Healthcare Foundation

The Jefferson Health Care Foundation, is a non-profit foundation, established to receive, maintain and distribute funds raised by personal donations, grants, capital projects and special event fundraising. These funds benefit the work and services of Jefferson Memorial Hospital, and its affiliated non-profit subsidiaries of the Jefferson Regional Health Systems, Inc. Although the Foundation does not contribute to normal operating costs, its mandate is to provide ongoing resources allowing Jefferson Memorial Hospital to purchase equipment, undertake renovations and continue the success of existing programs as well as create exciting new programs.

To succeed is to ensure the long-term stability and growth of our health care system. This growth will also assist us as we strive for a healthier community by developing preventative health care programs.

Dr. Richard VenningOur First Facility

It all began hundred years ago in 1904, when Dr. Richard E. Venning agreed to convert the second floor of his home located on West Congress Street for hospital use, and Charles Town General Hospital was born. Times have not always been easy for this healthcare institution, now called Jefferson Memorial Hospital, dedicated to the citizens of Jefferson County. It’s history reads like a great novel filled with heroes of the day, bouts with plagues and disease, as well as a constant struggle with financial concerns and the need for expansion to serve its patients with quality healthcare. Jefferson Memorial Hospital became a not-for-profit community hospital in 1917, owning its total existence to the generosity and passion of the citizens of a small rural community who chose to dedicate their time, and monies to insure it’s long-term success.

By donating to the Jefferson Health Care Foundation and contributing to your community it assures that the essential services that Jefferson Memorial Hospital has provided for over a century, will not only continue to be available, but also will continue to be improved. Today, as in the past, we rely on charitable gifts to help provide needed equipment and building requirements for the health care of our community.

By becoming a benefactor to Jefferson Health Care Foundation, you will receive the added benefit that it is a tax deductible contribution. This contribution may directly reduce the amount of tax owed in the year the deduction is claimed and in future years.

Jefferson Memorial Hospital has a tradition of caring for the community that goes back a century. We rely on your generosity to continue this tradition.
