FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR HOME HEALTH SERVICES

There are several financial resources available for payment of Home Health care services. Most patients are covered by health insurance policies or by state and federal entitlement programs such as Medicaid and Medicare. You will be asked to provide information regarding your private insurance or Medicare/Medicaid coverage during the first home visit. Jefferson Memorial Home Care staff will gladly assist you in determining coverage for your bill and in filing claims. If you have any questions, need to clarify your financial arrangements, or anticipate problems paying for your care, please contact us at 728-1750. Below is more specific information regarding each payment source:

For more information on how Jefferson Memorial Hospital's business health Services can benefit your company, call the Business Health Services office at 304-264-1271 or contact Leslie Young at lyoung@cityhospital.org.

Medicare Medicare will pay 100% of home health services and supplies when all qualifying criteria are met. Jefferson Memorial Home Care staff will explain these criteria to you and will determine your eligibility for services.

Medicare will pay 80% of the cost of equipment; the patient is expected to pay the remaining 20%.

Care related to dialysis or end-stage renal disease may not be included in your home health benefit under Medicare. Lab work, x-rays, doctor office visits, and ambulance services are not covered under the home health benefit.

Medicaid Generally, all home health services you receive will be covered in full if you meet the conditions specified for Medicare coverage.

Insurance Many insurance policies cover home health services. CHECK YOUR INSURANCE PLAN because coverage varies greatly from company to company.

Most insurance plans have a co-insurance and/or deductible obligation. The amount not paid by your insurance company will be billed to you.

The home care staff will work with you and your insurance company to determine what will be covered and what you may be expected to pay. This information will be provided to you as soon as it is available to us.

Private Pay You will be billed on a monthly basis for services rendered and supplies used. A schedule of fees will be provided to you prior to the start of care, and a payment plan must be established prior to receiving services.
